Permatex® Anaerobic Flange Sealant

Features and Benefits:

Flexible, gasketing material for use on rigid machined flanges with less than .015″ gap. OEM approved – use where OE’s specify “anaerobic” gasket (cures in the absence of air). Withstands temperatures to 300°F (149°C). Eliminates preformed, pre-cut, paper, rubber and cork gaskets. Flexes with flanges that move in service.

DIRECTIONS:

TO MAKE A GASKET:

  1. Clean both flange surfaces. Remove paint, dirt, grease or old gasket completely.
  2. Spray Permatex® Surface Prep activator on one surface only. Allow to dry 1-2 minutes.
  3. Apply a continuous bead of sealant to the unprimed surface.
  4. Assemble mating surfaces with minimal lateral movement. Excess sealant can be wiped awaywith a cloth and shop solvent.

TO DRESS A GASKET:

  1. Clean both flange surfaces. Remove paint, dirt, grease or old gasket completely.
  2. Spray Permatex® Surface Prep activator to both flange surfaces. Allow to dry 1-2 minutes.
  3. Completely cover both sides of the precut gasket with sealant.

Permatex® Anaerobic Gasket Maker

Features and Benefits:

OEM specified. Noncorrosive gasketing material designed primarily for use on aluminum, iron, and steel flanged mating surfaces. Ideal for on-the-spot and emergency repairs, or when a conventional gasket is unavailable. Fills gaps up to .015″ and cures to a solvent-resistant seal that will not tear or decay during service. Parts disassemble easily even after extended service. Old gasket material can be removed in minutes with a simple putty knife.

DIRECTIONS:

Permatex® Automatic Transmission RTV Gasket Maker

Features and Benefits:

OEM specified. Developed with U.S. automotive OEMs and complies with extended warranty requirements. It resists aging, weathering and thermal cycling without hardening, shrinking or cracking. Benefits include improved transmission oil resistance, good adhesion while retaining flexibility, sensor-safe, noncorrosive and can be used as a gasket maker or dressing. Nonflammable, nontoxic, low odor.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. For best results, clean and dry all surfaces with a residue-free solvent, such as Permatex® Brake and Parts Cleaner.
  2. Cut nozzle to desired bead size – gaskets are best formed using a 1/16″ to 1/4″ (2 to 6 mm) bead.
  3. Apply a continuous and even bead of silicone to one surface; surround all bolt holes. Assemble parts immediately. Finger tighten bolts until material begins to squeeze out around flange. Allow to cure for one hour then retighten 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
  4. For best results, allow to cure overnight.
  5. Replace cap after use. Clean hands with dry cloth or Permatex® Fast Orange® Hand Cleaner. Clean tools with non-flammable cleaning fluid.

NOTE: Not recommended for use on head gaskets or parts in contact with gasoline.

Permatex® Aviation Form-A-Gasket® No. 3 Sealant Liquid

Features and Benefits:

Slow-drying, non-hardening brush-top sealant approved for use in aviation as well as automotive applications. Temperature range -65°F to 400°F (-54°C to 204°C); resists gasoline, oil and grease.

DIRECTIONS:

Use brush to apply a thin, even coat to each surface. Allow to air-dry a fewminutes before fastening the parts into position. If thinning is necessary, add 188 proof denatured alcohol. For use on most types of gaskets, machined surfaces and screw thread connections of airplane and automobile engines.

Features and Benefits:

Fast-drying, metallic copper sealant helps dissipate heat, prevents gasket burnout and improves heat transfer. Fills minor surface irregularities. Seals instantly. Fills hot spots and surface imperfections. Temperature range -50°F to 500°F (-45°C to 260°C); resists all types of automotive fluids, especially gasoline. Level 3

DIRECTIONS:

Shake well with repeated agitation. Hold can 6-10 inches away from surface, depending on width of target area. All surfaces can be pre-coated in advance for convenience. Apply to flange surfaces, both sides of gasket and bolt threads. Wait 30 seconds between coats to allow surface to become tacky.

Use on flanges, both sides of old or new gaskets, threaded and hose connections, cover plates and all semi permanent reassembly work. Clean surfaces thoroughly. Apply a thin, even film. Allow to air dry afew minutes until film becomes “tacky.” Then assemble and tighten into position.

  4. Wipe excess clean. If material cures in nozzle between applications, use a pin or paper clip to remove cured plug.

Permatex® Gasket Remover – Low VOC Formula

Features and Benefits:

This low VOC formulation combines powerful gasket remover strength with an innovative delivery system. Its fast-foaming action penetrates the most stubborn or baked-on gaskets in 15-20 minutes. The built-in brush-tip was designed for easy application and allows for scrubbing on intricate surfaces. This product is NOT recommended for use on silicone gaskets. Level 2

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Apply Gasket Remover by depressing pad to angle brush. Move brush in a circular motion ensuring all of the sealant is covered.
  2. Allow Gasket Remover to stand on the gasket sealant for at least (15) minutes. Removal time will vary depending on gasket sealant thickness.
  3. Wipe residue off with dry rag.
  4. Re-apply if necessary.
  5. Prep flange for new gasket by cleaning with Permatex® Brake & Parts Cleaner.

NOTE: Not for use on RTV silicone gaskets.

Automobile:

Permatex® Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker

Features and Benefits:

OEM specified. Specially formulated to withstand the harsh gear oil environment found in differentials and transfer cases. Because gear oil has friction modifiers that break down normal RTV and cause leaking, this specialty silicone has been tested to OEM specifications to ensure complete sealing. As a gasket maker, it seeks and seals leak paths that cut gaskets cannot. It can also be used to seal cut gaskets.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. For best results, clean and dry all surfaces with a residue-free solvent, such as Permatex® Brake & Parts Cleaner.
  2. Cut nozzle to desired bead size – gaskets are best formed using a 1/16″ to 1/4″ (2 to 6 mm) bead.
  3. Apply a continuous and even bead of silicone to one surface; surround all bolt holes. Assemble parts immediately. Finger tighten bolts until material begins to squeeze out around flange. Allow to dry for one hour then retighten 1/4 to 1/2 turn.
  4. Silicone dries in 1 hour, and fully cures in 24 hours. Allow more time in cold or very dry conditions.
  5. Replace cap after use.

Note: Not recommended for use on head gaskets or parts in contact with gasoline. Store below 80°F (27°C).

Permatex® High Tack™ Gasket Sealant

Features and Benefits:

Fast-drying all-purpose sealant dries to a highly tacky, non-brittle film. A reliable general adhesive remains tacky indefinitely – can be applied in advance for convenience in assembly. Remains effective at temperatures of -65°F to 500°F (-54°C to 260°C). Sensor-safe. Resists gasoline, oil, antifreeze, axle lube, kerosene, propane and butane.

DIRECTIONS:

Apply a thin, even coat of High Tack to all surfaces. Cover all threads. Allow to set a few minutes before assembly. For convenient assembly, coat gaskets and bolts in advance. High Tack can be removed with lacquer thinner. Keep tightly closed.

OEM specified. Formulated for hi-temp applications, or heavy-duty use (such as towing, etc.). Replaces almost any cut gasket by making reliable “formed-in-place” gaskets that resist cracking, shrinking and migrating caused by thermal cycling. Coats pre-cut gaskets to increase reliability. Temperature range -65ºF to 650ºF (-54°C to 343°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. For best results, clean and dry all surfaces with a residue-free solvent, such as Permatex® Brake & Parts Cleaner.
  2. Cut nozzle to desired bead size – gaskets are best formed using a 1/16″ to 1/4″ (2 to 6 mm) bead.

  4. Silicone will skin over in one hour and fully cure in 24 hours under normal conditions. Allow more time for cold or very dry conditions.

Permatex® MotoSeal® 1 Ultimate Gasket Maker Grey

Features and Benefits:

For two and four cycle engines. Solvent-based bond fully seals within 20 minutes. Forms a tough flexible bond that is highly effective on irregular and uneven joint surfaces. Resists gasoline and other damaging fluids. Withstands temperatures 350°F (177°C) continuous, 400°F (204°C) intermittent.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Make sure that surfaces to be sealed are clean and oil free.
  2. Apply a continuous bead of MotoSeal 1 to both surfaces of parts to be sealed.
  3. Smooth material with small brush.
  4. Wait about one (1) minute then mate parts together.
  5. Bolt parts using normal torque specifications.

Permatex® PermaShield™ Fuel Resistant Gasket Dressing & Flange Sealant

Features and Benefits:

Specially formulated for superior fluid resistance, this polyester urethane based gasketing compound withstands extreme temperature changes without hardening. Its non-setting, non-hardening character remains tacky even with rapid changes in temperature, enabling repeated assembly and disassembly of parts. Suitable as either a gasket maker or dressing, PermaShield seals surface imperfections between metal parts and is ideal in high performance applications. With an operating temperature range of -60° to 500°F (-50° to 260°C), this compound resists common engine fluids, including oil, gasoline, ethanol, water and anti-freeze and prevents contamination from moisture and dust.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Clean and dry surfaces.
  2. Apply thin film or bead to both surfaces.
  3. Allow ample drying time to completely evaporate the solvent.
  4. Assemble and torque to manufacturers specifications. Seals instantly. May return equipment to service immediately. Replace cap after use. Store below 100°F (38°C).

Permatex® RTV Silicone Dissolver

Features and Benefits:

OEM approved. This patented gel formula dissolves and completely removes RTV silicone residue in only a matter of minutes…letting the powerful chemical do the work for you. No grinding required. It’s also safe for use on aluminum and other surfaces such a metal or plastic.

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Remove heavy silicone residue using Permatex® SaferScraper.
  2. Spread liberally on surface and let stand for several minutes to soften gasket material.
  3. Allow longer contact time for thick layers.
  4. Wipe material with a clean rag or scrape from surface with Permatex® SaferScraper.
  5. Repeat if necessary until surface is free of gasket material.

NOTE: Does not work on non-silicone gasket residue.

Automobile:

Suggested Applications: Removes residue from all Permatex® silicones, including the Right Stuff, Ultra Series and RTV products.
